Food Storage...???

My sweet aunt from Texas (not LDS) emailed me about family stuff and then asked about food storage... she said that a lot of her ministers and teachers are telling them it is time to start storing food. So, I have one great suggestion for those of you who are just getting started... I know I just bashed Costco for not having "Merry Christmas" cards!!!! (Still ticks me off) BUT... check this out! They have great "starter" kits for food storage. Here is the web site and here are some pictures of what they offer... So, let's help my Aunt Wonka! I know there are lists out there... isn't there a cute Noah's Ark list??? What to buy when??? How much to buy... etc??? HELP us out here ladies!!! I want suggestions... web sites.... any and everything! Wonka will thank you and so will I!!!

I hope you get some great sources...because my hubby and I decided it was probably time to get some food storage put away...I had it when I lived in Utah and my kids were small..but then when I moved here I just never got around to it for my hubby and I. I'll be watching this closely to see what everyone comes up with. Thanks for this timely post!

I'll be checking back for info. Deon & I were just talking about this & need to start!! They have some really great places in St.George from what I've heard. And it's only 2 hours from here, we were thinking of taking the trip!

FYI: I orded my christmas cards from costco online & they DO have some that say Merry Christmas!! (I don't know if you went into the store, which may not) But they have them online! even though, the one's I got didn't happen to say it! lol...
(online there are different tabs you select that bring up more cards categorized as: Season's Greetings, Merry Christmas, Holiday Religious, More Holiday.....) So you don't have to give up on Costco just yet after all!

Our son in Virginia's said his Stake President wanted every family in their stake to order this food supply kit for each member of their family and also to order the survival kit Costco has on line. If they didn't.. they would order them for the family:) The S.P. felt that strongly about it.
Their kits arrived while we were there in October and they looked pretty good.
That is in part what we gave them for Christmas:)

Merry Christmas~♥♥♥

Hey Nikki, I am glad you have power:-)

Those kits from Costco really are awesome. I wouldn't have it as my only storage but it's awesome to use as a filler. My inlaws bought one for each member in their family. I totally will be getting some of those soon!

Ok...I must admit that I have never heard of food storage until I started blogging and made so many LDS bloggy buddies. Why do you do it? Why is there a sudden concern for this? Just wondering.

I've also noticed many non-LDS friends jumping on this bandwagon now that it's obvious that it's good idea. Some of those same people thought it was crazy 5 years ago.

I need to build mine up more. Ours isn't nearly what it should be. With all the instability in the marketplace, this is certainly the time.

I saw Merry Christmas cards at Costco today too, and they said there are still more choices online.

We have been working on this all year long. It is a process. It is a constant process. I think no one gets it 100 percent right. It is that we just do it little by little. Carrying on in small ways. Then you find what works for you and your family. We all like and need and use different things. Just remember 3 months sustaining of what you use. 1 year supply of foods that help us survive. And water is a huge issue.

I just posted a WHOLE bunch of food storage blogs that are awesome. We are "into" food storage this year too.
