Playing Games!

Thanks Flickr for the pic
Our family LOVES to play games! Especially around the holidays when ALL the kid are home! Last night we played Rummikub and Skip-Bo, both a lot of fun. Some of our favorite games include Catch Phrase, Scrabble, Apples to Apples, Pictionary, and Outburst.

We want to buy a couple of new games.... so, my question to you is, WHAT are some of your favorite games??!!! Please help me out here with some new ones!!! THANKS!!! Party on!

Ohhh! I had to comment, we're huge game nerds too and we've played 'em all! But our new faves you've *got* to try out. They're a bit harder to find, generally we see them at specialty game stores.

Settler's of Cattan $40(Deseret Book has a knock off called Settlers of Zarahemla that I think is just as good and half the price)

Bang! It's a card game and AWESOME! We got an expansion of it but just the simple card game is great and it's around $20.

Boxer's or Briefs: it's hilarious! We just got it at Walmart and it seriously SOOOO funny!

Curses: A super fun game to play with a group of people especially if you want an ice breaker

Killer Bunnies: SOOOOOO fun! I love this game and there are lots of expansions.

Those are our favorite games! I hope you can find some good ones!! Good luck and happy playing!

I come from a huge game family. We have so many fun ones but some of them you have to get off the internet because they don't sell them in stores.

PIT-this one is a fun game of trading and bartering. It is a card game and it comes with a bell.

ZILCH-this is a 6 dice game. You try to roll 1's and 5's. YOu get three rolls or you can keep going if no dice are left. On your first roll you can roll any number for example. If you roll a 1, 2, 3, 3, 3, and a 5. Your score would be 450. Any number that you get three of a kind on the first roll is that number x 100. So 3 three's = 300. If you were to roll three 1's then it would be 1000. The 1 would equal 100 because you only have 1 andthe 5 is 50 because you only had 1 as well. The second and third rolls you can only count 1's and 5's. If you don't roll any than you zilch and you get 0 points for that turn.

Sorry if these rules are confusing but you should look it up online. This game is really fun.

SPEED UNO- This we play just like regular Uno but with a twist. Say someone lays down a blue 5 well youcan go out of turn if you have a blue5 as well. The card has to match exactly. Another rule is if someone lays down a draw 4 and the next person has one that means the next person either needs to draw 8 or lay another draw 4 down then the next person would have to draw 12. It makes the game go by so much faster but you can also go from 1 card to 11 cards pretty fast. You can also do this rule with draw 2's as well but they can be a different color. The only time the card has to be exact is if you are matching.

I hope I haven't confused you I could go on and on with more games but I would just confuse you more.

WE ARE A GAME PLAYING FAMILY! A HUGE ditto regarding the Curses game. It is hilarious and really gets everyone laughing. You really need people to not be afraid to let their hair down but I think with your family (like ours) that won't be a problem! Also, another MUST game is "Hilarium". I'm not exactly sure where to get one in a store, I got mine from Ebay, so you might not be able to get it before Christmas, but it is definitely one that you will want to add to your collection.

Well, this is sounding so fun...can we come???? :o}

We love Ticket to Ride and Tikal. My son also created his own Star Wars game. (A very cool board with figures and everything.) He offered to make one for you--can't buy it anywhere! Have so much fun with the games.

I whole heartedly agree with Rachel, about Settlers of Cattan. Our son's family bought the Zarahemla version and they enjoy it. You can continually add on to it and it is usually sold in specialty game stores. I will have to look for some of the other games she mentioned:)

Merriest of Christmases!
