Highway of Life...

Have you ever had a dream and then you are sort of awake and sort of asleep and you keep "expounding" on that dream you had???

Well, last night, or early this morning I had a dream... not much to it that I can remember... but I thought about it the rest of the morning until my alarm went off. I think I am going to use it in my Institute class tonight. I know it doesn't give you long to comment... I hope some of you are on line and will expound on YOUR thoughts of my dream...

Okay, so, here was my little/very short dream.... I was in a white truck (don't ask me why a truck or white for that matter) but, in it I was thinking about the highway of life....

Here is where my mind wondered to during the dream...

* We need to keep moving forward. (We can go slow but we can't stop. We certainly can NOT go backwards without causing an accident)

*We might pass others (even for a short time) or others might pass us...

*We can help others along the way (Not sure if you heard on the news the other night of someone that was unconscious at the wheel and a truck pulled in front of the car and slowed down, let them slowly run into the truck and saved their lives ~ we can liken this unto spiritual saving...)

*We might get lazy or tired and close our eyes for a few min (again liken this to spiritually) and might even run off the road... hopefully it will be a "wake up call" and we will quickly compensate and get back on the road. We might even hit a sign but not do too much damage and be able to get back on the road. We might get in a bigger accident and have to take the "truck" into the shop and THEN get back on the road...

Do you see where I am going with this??? ANYTHING you can add??? I would love any other suggestions!!!!! THANK YOU!

The truck could be likened to the covenants we make. We aren't able to get on the truck until we make those covenants. How we keep our covenants can be likened to our driving.

P.S. I got the pretzel recipe from allrecipes.com

Wow, Shaila, you are so profound. I never have dreams this deep. Sometimes my dreams are all whacked out and completely irrelevant. Usually when I tell my husband and ask him what he think it means, he usually says, "it means you're psycho"

Thanks for sharing your inspired dreams.

don't know if you'll get this... have used it before... my brother wrote me a letter about this from his mission when i was 15 years old... it stayed with me all my life...
road map; scriptures (maybe GPS today)
gas; spiritual experiences
signs; words of the prophet that pertain to the here and now
Oh... we could go on with this one for hours... condition of the car for travel, oil change. I am sure your students will run with it.
Have fun. Can't wait to hear their comments, be sure to post them.
1 Cor 15 tomorrow, death and resurrection.
Will use your highway soon!

What are you hauling? Are you carrying to much too soon, or adding as you increase your destination. Love this truck dream alot.

You have to obey God's commands and the truck has to obey the law as well. It has to be services and refilled like the sacrament ect.

You could really go along ways with this. Stop signs, pit holes, mud, storms, wipers, ......

How did your lesson go? Did you add the part about pulling off the highway to go bungee jumping????

SUCH a deep dream, WOW! Okay, here's another concept. YOU may have been given a truck. You need to do with that truck the best you know how. What can you do with that truck? Haul things, help people but there are limitations...you are slower in speed, bigger, you can't maneuver in places a smaller vehicle could. Someone else may have been given a sports car. They are quick, can get in small spaces faster but they too have limitations. Do with your "vehicle" (by this I don't necessarily mean our physical bodies but every person has their strengths and weaknesses) what the Lord would have you do. Discover all the ways you can help and serve with your vehicle (our Spirits *and* our physical bodies) the best the Lord wants you to. Do the best you can with your OWN vehicle, which isn't the same as someone else's vehicle, on the highway of life.

Good luck with you lesson!!!

I am too late to comment for you class.
I never remember dreams like this. That is really neat. Great message that can be used in so many ways.
My first thought after reading your thoughts was that it doesn't matter what everyone else is doing around us as. Our job is to keep our truck on the road and get to the final destination. We can help along the way, we can slow down and enjoy the view, but only we can steer our truck to the final place we want to go.

I can't wait to hear what happened in your class.

I totally love how in tune you are for these special guys! I loved your dream message and How you likened it to us and our lives.
I am sure you are privy to them because the Lord knows you will use for good.

I'm coming over from Mormon Mommy Blogs, asking for your help. I am in the running for a round trip airfare paid ticket to Connecticut, to meet a friend I became acquainted with through blogging. She is a super fun person and is holding this contest. I entered a funny story titled "Grapejuice Floaties, Now Marry Me." The person whose story receives the most votes will win a trip to meet this generous lady, whom I'm hoping to meet. The voting ends tonight-midnight. I used to be ahead but there is a story coming up from behind out of nowhere, and it's a tight race now. I would so much appreciate your help. Her blog is www.becausemomsaidso.blogspot.com and the voting is on the sidebar on the right. "Grapejuice, Floaties" Just go there and cast a vote for me, please. Thanks so much-you're awesome! ♥♥
YOUR VOTE REALLY WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
