on Trial...

I have been reading a lot trying to get ready for institute. One book that was recommended to me is called, " Powerful Tips for Powerful Teachers". I just want to share something that I read...

Moroni talks about faith being "on trial"... Ether 12:6 "And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not see; wherefore, dispute the trial of your faith.
In a real court case there is a judge and a defendant. Oftentimes there is evidence, and sometimes there is a jury. The defendant has been placed on trial to assess his activities on some level, in some arena. Once the trial is finished, the judge and/or jury make a decision as to whether the defendant is innocent or guilty.
Have you ever thought of your faith being on trail in this manner, as Moroni describes it? What evidence would there be to support a claim that your faith exists?
This really made me stop and think. I think that normally when we read this verse in Ether we think of WHAT faith is... but to stop and think about OUR Faith... and it being on trial. Isn't that part of why we are here? How much faith do we REALLY have? Will it carry us through the trials that we have? ...just thinking... and sharing....

Love this. I will have to look this book up for we are all teachers are we not?

I have thought about my faith being on trail. What evidence would there be against me that I live by my faith? It is an eye opening view point. Thanks for the post. WONDERFUL.

Hi,
I just saw the comment you left on my blog...And I think you should put the fall display I made on your front porch...It's simple all you need is a little ladder. Paint it, sand it to make it look distressed...Put a basket on it and nail it on the top of the ladder (screws work better) Add some critter food or something like more pumpkins (If you don't want to feed the critters) Add a few big pumpkins and squash around the ladder and you have it...Quite simple. Oh and don't forget the raffia bow I think it really makes it cute.
Have a great week!

Very thought provoking Shaila. I often forget about that scripture and now it has a whole new meaning.

I know I have got so much to work on. I am not building a very good case. I need some witnesses and some testimonies to pull off my trial of faith. Thanks for these thought.

Some great thoughts there. You've got me thinking. I know I have faith, but do others see evidence of it? Other than attending church every week, and going VT, am I sure others know of my testimony? Hmm...
Thanks for sharing that.

I linked to your blog from Robins nest and I'm so glad I did. I'm originally from Utah and miss my home state so bad. I'm now in Massachusetts and feel very isolated being a member out here. When I saw your quote from President Benson I knew you were a kindred spirit. It's nice to meet you! I'm now going to snoop around your beautiful blog if you don't mind. Have a great day!

Hey Shaila!

Thanks for coming to visit. I've been gone from Utah for 7 years now. It's a beautiful place here...but it will never be home. My daughters are 25 and 26 and my son is 27. Two are still in Utah and Lindsey is living in Austin, TX so I miss them like crazy! I'm new to blogging but I'm finding it so much fun to meet new people!! I'm sure I'll be visiting here often!
