Cracks me up!

Pam sent this email to me this morning... and after Motherboard's bucket filler she posted about this morning I thought... I HAVE to post this email Pam sent me! I have said this before but I volunteer at the guidance office at our high school 2 days a week.... here is a post on the 1st day back this fall. Parents are so funny, okay, NOT funny....
I don't know if this is true or not but it is so stinkin' hilarious!!!

This is the message that the Pacific Palisades High School California staff voted unanimously to record on their school telephone answering machine . This is the actual answering machine message for the school. This came about because they implemented a policy requiring students and parents to be responsible for their children's absences and missing homework. The school and teachers are being sued by parents who want their children's failing grades changed to passing grades - even though those children were absent 15-30 times during the semester and did not complete enough school work to pass their classes.

The outgoing message: Hello! You have reached the automated answering service of your school. In order to assist you in connecting to the right staff member, please listen to all the options before making a selection:

To lie about why your child is absent - Press 1

To make excuses for why your child did not do his work - Press 2

To complain about what we do - Press 3

To swear at staff members - Press 4

To ask why you didn't get information that was already enclosed in your newsletter and several flyers mailed to you - Press 5

If you want us to raise your child - Press 6

If you want to reach out and touch, slap or hit someone - Press 7

To request another teacher, for the third time this year - Press 8

To complain about bus transportation - Press 9

To complain about school lunches - Press 0

If you realize this is the real world and your child must be accountable and responsible for his/her own behaviour, class work, homework and that it's not the teachers' fault for your child's lack of effort: Hang up and have a nice day!

If you want this in another language, move to a country that speaks it.

P.S. Mechelle is giving away a QUILT!!!!! Yep, you read that right! Go HERE to enter the drawing... Mechelle, I really didn't want to advertise, then MY chances of winning go DOWN! But, I did post about it... so... maybe you could just.... enter me TWICE!!??!!! °Ü°

OH ~ BTY ~ Kallie, (almost 15 year old daughter) and I made popcorn balls and brownies for all the office workers at her high school.

We walked around and handed them out on the third or fourth day of school. Most of the people we were trying to give them too asked us how much? When we said that they were free, just as a thank you for all their hard work, the people were so surprised and happy.

Thanks for helping us see the hard work behind the doors of the high school office! m

TOO FREAKING FUNNY! And sadly enough I'm sure it is exactly what a lot of parents need to hear!!! What a tough job it is to work in a public school!

Man- Wouldn't it be Great if schools really had parents be accountable for their own kids....
Ok- You are no where near 40. So I don't know how your replying about that.
Also that's a beautiful beach. I take it's in CA. Are you in Northern or Southern CA.
Thanks for becoming a new friend. Can't wait to get to know you...

Tooo funny! Too bad schools have to put up with so much crap.

I agree with Scrappy's comment, too!

I just saw your note asking about the black and white bins in my new craft room...believe it or not they are actually plastic and they came from HOME DEPOT...shocker huh? They were only 6 bucks each!

So true! Although at my daughters high school the limit for absences is 10 days. After 10 days, you are withdrawn. They are super strict about it.

I cannot believe you have a son that is 25! Wow - you look amazing.. See that's why I am stressing over turning 40. My kids are all so young. I think it's so neat when young adults say "Yea my mom is 42 or something. I'll be 53 when my youngest turns 16.. That just sounds so old to have two teenage daughters.. I just hope they won't think I'm too old. That's all that matters..
