Christmas Wish List...

I had to post that, I thought it was so stinkin' funny!!!

Now for the wish list...
I gave this to my kids last year and had them fill it out. I emailed it to my older kids up at college and they cut and pasted it, answered it, and emailed it back. It sure helped me with getting gifts and getting to know their thoughts and desires again. I will be having them fill it out again this year! I thought I would share it with you! Feel free to change anything you want to...

Food storage or something on those lines. So boring I know, but it is on my wish list and I always loved when my mom and dad got us things for our 72 hour kits. Especially the 3 things of Costco toilet paper. But board games are always nice too.

Great idea! I love how you ask them to fill something out. That's great. We've always had Santa bring ONE gift and whatever else they receive comes from US or family and friends.

That is such a neat idea...fun to fill out too!

Oooh...I like your idea for the questionaire. I might have to try something like that but make it more simple for my little ones. I had them circle things in a toy catalog yesterday so I could start to get a feel. As far as for the married couples...Kory & I have got both sides to that...an individual each and another year a house item. I think I would have to say a house item or gift certificate. You could go for those black & white temple pictures they sell at Desert Book of the temple they were married in??

This is a wonderful Idea!!!!
Since we ahve so much going on this year....shhh Santa bought them a Wii! this is the first year we bought everyone a family gift.
I also like Jan's idea for food storage and 72 hour kits.
One tradition I started with our grandchildren (10 now) is buying a new christmas ornament each year so they will have a set for their own tree with memories from their Papa and Nana.

Great idea! I think I'm asking for food storage this year, or one of those handy dandy food sealer things my friend has to bag your own food for longer storage. I forget what it's called...

I love the wish list. I do have two kids that are married and I have to be honest...We have been giving them money every year! I always send a small gift with the money and mega gifts for the Grandsons~♥
I know the money seems impersonal but my kids are always very thankful for it.

well francie already said santa is COSTCO this year...so here's a hint for brittany (and i'm guessing diana too...) all they really want is clothes! even if we are supposed to be mature since we're married, deep down we want to be selfish and just have clothes and more clothes!

What a good idea! I don't have married kids, but I AM one. Our parents generally send a check that I disperse between my family. They'll send a few small gifts, but we live so far that it's just easier this way.

When we do Christmas *with* family, they do individual gifs.

I love the survey idea!

Maybe movie tickets??? I know my kids would love that at any age~

Once the families started growing, my grandparents (on both sides) switched from regular gift giving to the family gift exchange game -which is REALLY REALLY fun if your family can all be together for Christmas.

One year my MIL and FIL gave us emergency preparedness stuff, which we really appreciated. :)

I always try to give my darling girls something personal just for them, like clothes or books or scrapbook stuff. . . and I also try to give all the girls something the same for all 4 each year, like a kitchen gadget, something cute for their house or just something fun. One year I got Rachel Ray garbage bowls on sale at Kohl's. Sometimes we do a couples gift but so far we try to keep it personal, especially with new homes and little kids. I think it's really important to help the girls remember they have worth besides being a wife or mom. (Although I tell my daughter-in-love's all the time I am so thankful they married my boys. . . and I try and make it worth their while!)

Oh I'm not sure what to do this year. I don't have married kids - but can only imagine that it would be hard to think of something. I am into food storage this year too. My parents gave my husband and I food storage one year and I really appreciated it.

I love this wish list. Will have to use it for Christmas and birthdays. Just good info to know anyways. Allie asked me what my mom's favorite color was and I didn't even know the answer. How awful is that! I think gift certificates are great. Even Kory likes those to Best Buy or some electronics store. All women would like gift cert. for massages, manicures, or pedicures..or to Robert's or TaiPan trading. And then of course, there's my favorite...Cash and Real Estate!!

HAH...I do what my kids beg me to do....send a check! Not very festive...not very fun...but it's what they want. Sure makes shopping easy too! I usually do sneak in a couple little presents...because I just can't stand not buying something! hmmm maybe they're not so dumb after all...they get the money AND a gift....why those little.........

We have done 72 hr kits, food storage, and water containers, but I always do other fun things too. Always pajamas for everyone...always a family game...I was going to stop stockings after they got married, but found that my first daughter-in-law loved getting a couple one, so then I started giving everyone one...even the grandkids. We do get gift cards a bit too so they have the freedom to buy some things of their own choice.

That is a great list! I'm going to give that to my kids...I'm stumped this year.

being a "younger married couple"... my parents give us money and we buy whatever we want with it, then bring it back to them so they can wrap it. my mother in law a few years ago started 72 hr kits for us; i loved that! those 72 hr kits were just what we needed to start thinking about ourselves and how prepared we were as a "newly married" couple.

Wow, you have quite a following on your blog. I have sent out a little Christmas wish list questionaire, and my kids are pretty quick to fill it out. The In-law children feel a little awkward doing it. In the past one year, my son and wife got a new couch and love seat from us. My daughter and hubby got a very nice camera and lens. I like to get them things they couldn't get for themselves. Usually one BIG thing.
But I also throw in just a couple of small things too.

72 hour kid sounds great.. Or movie tickets & dinner gift card. I love your letter. But it sure won't work for my little kids. Your so smart though!

That's such a good idea and I love that cartoon too!

Great question - I have spent sleepless nights trying to think of something...I didn't even get a chance to practice on one in-law first. If I blow it - I blow it big!

great idea and i am in need of all these ideas....with one daughter married...i don't know what the heck i am supposed to do with these grown-ups who call me mom.

no married kids, but when dh and I were first married. I enjoyed the seperate gifts.

his mom would buy me perfume, socks, and clothes, or make up, hair cuts, etc.
she would pretty much do the same for him too. or like a gift certificate for a year to go out to a movie. Once a week. that was fun, always guaranteed a date night. which is important when married kids get married and have the stresses of first time finances.

One of the best traditions from Greg's family that I inherited was a family gift for the married/moved out adult kiddies, but also to indulge our whimsy and the fun of buying cool things for the individuals themselves...everyone gets a Christmas stocking. And those are personal, just for that individual, funny, crazy, or stuff they couldn't buy themselves but would love to have. Not a huge amount of money but some little love you-pamper items that make mom and all the kids and in-laws feel loved and appreciated.
