Thanksgiving Cream Corn

I was just thinking... (yeah, I know... a miracle!) I decided I need to make a list of what we will be serving for Thanksgiving. And, I remembered this GREAT cream corn recipe that I got years and years ago! It has totally become a tradition for all of us! It just would not be Thanksgiving without it! It is so funny, my nephew's get a cup and fill it and DRINK it, yep, they drink the cream corn!!! It is so yummy!!! Anyway, here is the recipe!

Cream Corn

20 oz. frozen corn (leave it in the fridge to thaw over night)
1 C. whipping cream
1 c. milk
1 t. salt
6 t. sugar
2 T. butter
2 T. flour

Combine all ingredients except flour and butter. Bring to a boil, simmer for 5 min. Mix melted butter and flour and add to corn. Let simmer until it thickens like you want... SUPER easy but oh so good!!!

So, now will you please share some wonderful recipe that YOU make for Thanksgiving??!!! OR a great tradition you do??!!!

Oh, I LUV cream corn. Thanks for the recipe! I have a food blog as well and it's fun to collect recipes so when I'm in a jam about what to fix, wa-la, it's at my fingertips. This sounds awesome! Love your blog. Hugs to you!

I have only cooked Thanksgiving dinner twice.. Man- that is A LOT of work..
Last year the girls Aunt made the best pie ever. It was so good... And I am not a pie person at all..

How much does this recipe make? I am so going to try it. One of our traditions for Thanksgiving is that our family rents a lodge in the mountains every other year. We probably have at least 75 people their. I am getting so excited it's less than two weeks away. Yay! We also do a stocking party with the adults every Saturday after Thanksgiving but I will have to do a post on that because I could be here forever telling you about it....lol

Sounds yummy! I don't have any recipes because I don't like to cook...LOL!

I am usually the one who makes special activities for the kids and plays with them. AND I am in charge of traditions like the Thankful tree. Each person writes what they are most thankful for on a paper leaf and they hang it on the tree (tree branch). Then after dinner I read them aloud and we try to guess whose leaf it is.

We always whip out the Christmas decorations after loading up on the food. Stringing lights burns calories, right?

O.K. here is one I love for creamed corn.

just add a block of cream cheese to the corn plus a stick of butter, salt and pepper. Talk about simple but it taste like fresh, cut off the cob sweet corn.

I might add...sometimes we add a can of chopped green chilies for a little extra flavor. You should try this before Thanksgiving to see if you like it...and by the way, "Happy Birthday" and I will not tell your age.

Shaila,
this is a great recipe that I WILL try. The bread is actually a product from Utah. (Isn't that home?) Good old Rhoades Bread. These are the Texas rolls or the Gourmet rolls from Costco. I added more pictures and told the kind ladies of blogland what kind of bread it is on my blog.
Thanks for sharing your yummy recipe!

I love cream corn. It seem we only have it once a year ... that is right at thanksgiving.

My tradition is to run a 10k. It is called the turkey trout. You take off your watch and guess what time you will run the race in. Whom ever comes nearest to their guess wins the race. It is fun and anyone can win. Not just the fastest person.

Happy Thanksgiving. m

Shaila or Wilma, Do either of your creamed corn recipes taste like mama's? I've never tasted creamed corn that could compare to hers. Such sweet memories I have of standing beside her and watching her cut and scrape the corn off the cob (and it splattering everywhere) Yum, Yum, Yum.

me lovey the cream corn, too.

My grandma always did a big, traditional thanksgiving on the saturday after thanksgiving, so my mom did a "casual" one with us. We ate fancy BLTs and doritos and m&ms and popcorn and chips and salsa and just played games or went to a movie.

I loved it growing up and want to continue this tradition (mostly because it's so easy and fun!) But our families are 1000s of miles away, so if I do this, my kids won't ever have a traditional thanksgiving. :p

Sounds delish! I love the gobble til you wobble sign!! That's a motto I live by, unfortunately. LOL.

We love funeral potatoes on Thanksgiving. We also love baked yams. MMMMM.
