Laundry Room HELP!

Okay, I have decided that I want to fix up my laundry room. I want to make it a happy place... I am going to paint it green. NOT totally sure on the shade of green... And then I am going to decorate it with black and white, kind of French looking.... I have a mirror that I am going to pain the frame black, etc... I want to put up a cute saying on the wall make from vinyl.

So, here are my questions.

1) What shade of green do you recommend????
It is just my little laundry room, so not very big, therefore I am thinking a lighter shade, but I do NOT want a pastel)

2) And, for the saying for the wall... any suggestions?
I found this and thought maybe I would just put, LAUNDRY, and ONE of the sayings under it... I am leaning towards, "puts me in a spin cycle"...

Oh, and ONE more question. I have a front load washer and I think you HAVE to use liquid detergent, but I LOVE the way I keep seeing the powder detergent in a cute clear jar with again another vinyl saying... something like, "soap" on it. SO, I guess my question is: Do you know if you have to use liquid soap in a front load machine?

I am totally open to ANY suggestions! Thanks for your help!!! I am excited to go get the paint and get going on this little project!

Sounds so cute. Try a sage green, but not too light to make it pastel looking. I like your ideas. I have also seen: Laudry Room: Drop your drawers here or Laundry: Loads and loads of fun and I am sure there are others too but I can't remember them right now. Let us know what you decide and I am excited to see a picture of it finished!

ooooh, sounds like fun.
i love the idea of green with the black.
i would do a lime green, but not the neon florescent kind- just a simple classic lime, like the fruit.

i have front load and only use liqued soap.

just do the glass vinyl jar idea with the dry soap - and use that as an accessory it will look darling!

can't wait to see how it end up looking! it will be fab!

i love green! this is something i want to do someday too ... for now i put a nice rug in there and a sign on the wall that says "A CLEAN HOUSE IS A HAPPY HOUSE!" It's something that I've drilled into the kids' heads & when they're cleaning I always ask "why do we want a clean house" and they know the answer! I don't know about the detergent ... when i had a front loading it had to be liquid but maybe they've changed? you could also just pour the liquid into a big glass jar with a dispenser on it? can't wait to see pictures!!!

Sounds really pretty! I painted my front entryway and third bedroom a really pretty green shade that's not too light but not dark either. I don't know how to describe it, but I'm sure you'll find a gorgeous green shade!
And yes. . . front-loading washers do require liquid detergent. I used to use powder until we got our front-loading washer. It also requires us to buy liquid detergent that has "HE-Efficiency" on the outside of the bottle, otherwise it will ruin the washer. But maybe that's just our brand? We have a Whirlpool.

Apple Green. A light Apple green is one of my favorite colors and if you did it with a Damask print in B&W it would be cool. I can see you doing that. And maybe for your saying. -I like the Loads of fun Ideas

I have to use liquid where I live. If I don't the humidity cakes up the powder.

I love the green idea. Now we need pics!

ditto to pedaling. color, and soap simply as decor!

I like drop your drawers here. "Spin cycle" and "hamper me" were cute, too. Good luck! Post pics!

Yes, I like all kinds of green. I would do something warm and clean feeling. Sage?

Oh, I have a sign in my house that says,

My house was clean yesterday, sorry you missed it.

You could do"
My Laundry room was clean yesterday, sorry you missed it.

Maybe or maybe not. Just some ideas. Have fun.

My laundry room is a deeper mint green - definitely not pastel. And I am not lucky enough to have a front loader so I can't help you there.

Since I am still pounding my clothes on the rocks by the creek---I would have to say moss green.

Must agree with A. Kerr, apple green is exactly right with black and white accents. Depends on your trim though. You have painted trim, right?

Here is a slogan I just made up for you! It's stupid, of course, just like taking decorating advice from me as my sister is the one to ask, but just for grins,

"Fold now or forever hold your crease!"

That sounds so fun. Wish my laundry room was big enough to do all that.. I know our front loader says "he" soap only & my husband makes me stick to it...
I'm no help with decorating. Tammy is the decorator. I bet she's awesome!! Just like you

Ohhhh, fun!! I think a darker tan or a sage would be a fun color to paint it. I really hope you post a picture of your rockin' laundry room when you're done so I can get ideas when I do mine! :)
