Starting Work

It has been wonderful to be blessed enough that I have been able to stay home to raise my boys! But, with the economy the way it is Brad and I both thought it would be nice if I could find a part time job to help out with finances. I looked at a few places around Christmas time but no one was willing to let me have the Sabbath off, so I remained unemployed. A friend of mine who works for an optometrist part time called me a week or so ago and told me that the other gal she works with gave her 2 week notice, so Kathy was wondering if I would be interested. YES!!! I had to make a resume and go in for an interview. I was a little nervous because of my age and not having worked in years! I knew there were a couple of cute young gals interested too... Anyway, long story short, I got the job!!!

I started on Saturday. Kathy trained me... I greet the patient, make copies of their ID and Insurance card, enter the info on the computer and start them a file. I take them back and check their eyes on several different machines... (This is NOT our office, but this is what the machines look like) I then write the results from the machines and put it on their chart. I then take the patient into the exam room...

It was really fun. I need to go buy scrubs now!!!

If I could only find a job as perfect as yours!!
Good for you!
Take Care,

Wow- No more lazy days of nothing huh! I don't know if I want to go back to work. But I would if I truly had too. But having little ones at home makes it hard.
I know you'll do great!

Congratulations on the job. My husband is in construction and things are really bad right now. He is an owner in the company though so he can't be let go--but if things don't pick up in the next few months there won't be a business to own. Things are so tough at the moment. I am glad you were able to get the job to help out.

I also read about your dad. I am sorry he is so sick. I can relate some because my mother is very ill as well and that has been really hard--especially for her and my dad. Also they live just north of the American Fork hosital--across from the church. Do your parents live close to there?

Oh how exciting!! Just think, not only twinners (in scrubs), but triplets we will be. Sure am glad you found a job that doesn't require to work on the sabbath. I know with my job, I am pretty lucky. My boss allows me to make my own schedule so I usually get to enjoy my sabbath day.

Enjoy the new found freedom of employement. Take a picture of you in your scrubs for us.

That should be a fun job. And I am sure it is nice that it is only a part time so that you still have some freedom. Perfect...enjoy the new job!

Congratulations! It sounds like you found just the right thing to get you back to work again. It's so scary to jump back in after years away. I'm scared to do it after only 10 years out of the mainstream workforce. Enjoy!

I hear ya...I've been thinking I may need to get a job too but it's hard to find something that will allow me to have Sunday's off.
Obviously the Lord had a plan for you...the perfect job came around because you waited. I know if a great job like that falls into my lap then it will be meant to be! Good luck and have fun!
