Emma and love one another...

Emma said... "When the Spirit of truth touches our heart, then there is no room for doubt."

For my Institute class tomorrow night I am concentrating on "Love One Another". We are in John. If you read John he says this over and over... and it was said time and time again by our Savior.

John 2:10
He that loveth his brother abideth in the light..."
John 3:11
"For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another."
John 4:7
"... love one another: for love is of God"
John 4:11
"Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another."
John 4:12
"... IF we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us."
John 4:21
"And this commandment have we from him, that he who loveth God love his brother also"

AND, a warning....
John 4:20
"If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?"

In Matt. we are told that we are also to love our enemies... (Matt. 5:44)
"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you"

Again, we are warned... Matt. 24:12
"And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Just hours before He began the painful physical and spiritual processes of the Atonement, the Savior met with His Apostles to partake of the Feast of the Passover—His Last Supper—and to give them the final instructions He would give them in mortality.
St. John 13:34-35
"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."

There is a great talk HERE by Elder Ballard on this topic if you have the time to read it...

Jesus gave us the parable of the good Samaritan... a wonderful example of "loving one another".

"Someone has written, "Love is a verb." It requires doing - not just saying and thinking. The test is in what one does, how one acts, for love is conveyed in word and deed." ~David B. Haight

I think we ALL want to be known as His disciples... SO, my question to you is this... HOW do you SHOW your love to your fellow men??? I would love for you to share any examples you feel comfortable with... quotes... anything that I might be able to use for my lesson tomorrow night. THANK YOU!

Lots of good scriptures...no doubt God is ALL ABOUT LOVE...as my post last week...No greater love hath a man than he lay down his life for a friend. Love...do we??? Our sermon yesterday was on our commitment to God and one another. He told the story about breakfast...the chicken just made a donation...the pig made a commitment. something like that but you get the point. I think the way we know if what we have is love is.....are we making a donation??? You know putting in a few bucks or giving someone a donation or are we willing to let them move into my house? That's commitment. That's love. No doubt we all need God to manifest His love in our hearts. By nature we can't do it only Christ in me..the hope of glory. don't remember exactly where that scripture is. LOL

You ever notice how what you need to hear, or in this case read, appears right in front of you sometimes.
I have been dealing with a hard situation with a friend. It has been so difficult that I have found it hard to love this friend and maybe even determined that the friendship's time was over (which doesn't happen easily with me). She is just one of those people that makes you crazy and can be super hard to love no matter how much you try.
I needed this today, it lets me know that I should keep trying and that it is up to me even though it is hard.

How do we show people we love them? We forgive them. Christ loves us no matter what we have done, what we have said, what we haven't done, what we haven't said ...you get my drift. He has asked us to love others unconditionally--that means we need or better yet we have to forgive others for their short comings just as Christ forgives us of our short comings.

Hope this makes sense. I love it when you throw your lessons out there for me to ponder. Thanks--you are an amazing woman with much to offer. Thanks again, as I am at work serving others and helping them recover from many things. Often times the thoughts that are going through my mind--assist me to help someone during a rough time. Thanks again.

A need read for sure. We all could use a little more love in this life.

I can't speak for myself, but I will speak for my dad. He jumps at any opportunity to serve. He loves all. Everyone calls him a friend. He is trusted by most both young and old.

He is one of those really good guys that is a walking example of loving one another.

You are so amazing--I just want to bottle you up and take you home with me!
A real turning point for me in love for me was when I realized that each night, no matter how I had lived my life, I knelt and prayed to my Heavenly Father--expecting love and forgiveness---just like that---I on the other had can hold a grudge forever---it was just an aha moment--hope your lesson went well.
